Prussia The largest state in Germany Under the leadership of Bismarck, Prussia headed the unification of Germany in 1871. The King of Prussia became the German Kaiser (Emperor). Under the cease-fire conditions of World War I the Kaiser was forced to abdicate. In Wiemar days Prussia remained the largest state in the German Federation, and in the Nazi regime Hitler was Governor (Reichsstaatshalter) of Prussia and Fuehrer of the German Reich. The Prussian State was completely dissolved after World War II, most of its territory passed over to Poland.
